Jazz Heard Around the World
Jazz music is known as one of America’s greatest cultural achievements. Jazz music has a way of uniting people from different regions. Even though Jazz music was developed in America, it is a true global music artform. Being a huge Jazz music lover, I attended major Jazz festivals in New Orleans and Chicago. But I wanted to take my love for Jazz music to a new level. I wanted to visit some of the other locations that also appreciate this type of music as much as I do. After some research I found that Umbria, Italy celebrates Jazz music and has been for over 15 years. Every year the Umbria Jazz in December is held and is the country’s jazz tradition.
I quickly found that this jazz celebration was unlike many of the other jazz festivals that I have attended, large or small. You can pick from various activities and the artists will perform throughout the whole 5 days. If you miss one show, you don’t have to worry because you can catch that same artist performing at another time. If you really like someone you can go back and listen to them as many times as you like. The shows don’t start until the early evening and they last until the early morning hours. So you can take advantage of the many tourist spots in this area. Regardless of your jazz knowledge this festival is sure to be a hit!
